Buy a proper bread roll
and it will have flat, crustless sides
where it swelled during baking
touched and melded with its neighbour
though not so hard that it
could not be separated
– bakers call this the “Kiss Point”
Do partners’ bums whose owners
both turned their backs to sleep
from argument or mild estrangement
– softly reach out to gently flatten
and warmly kiss their loves behind
baking a fresh start into
each beautiful new morning…

Over at dVerse Poets Pub, Grace in Poetics invites us to post a poem of our choice. As a salve to all the bad news and hatred in the world at present, which even we poets must do our bit to suppress, I offer you this gentle poem of coming togetherness…
Your gentle poem of togetherness made me smile, Andrew, and brightened up what has turned out to be a dreary, drizzly day. I also learned something new about baking and the ‘Kiss Point’. I love the thought of ‘baking a fresh start into each beautiful new morning.
Thanks, Kim, the baker who helps us formulate new products told me about Kiss points…
I learnt about kiss-points in bread today. 🙂
I only recenly learned about them recently too, Reena…
Thank you for introducing me to “kiss points.” I bake, but I didn’t know the term. You’re gentle analogy to the lovers made me smile.
Thanks Merril – and its nice to find something to smile about these days… 🤗
Kiss kiss.
I certainly hope so!!! It’s worked for me a few times. Kiss point ~ tucked away in my memory bank.
How anybody could even go to sleep at odds with you I can’t imagine Helen 😂
~~~ oh, it’s happened .. I type with a sly smile on my face.
ha – I never knew that was called the kiss point. I have to admit now I yearn for some warm bread and maybe a glass of wine.
Sounds like a plan Truedessa – go for it and make sure the bread has Kiss Points…
I did not know about the kiss-points but its a good start to healing. Thanks for joining us Andrew.
Thank you, Grace…
Sweet!
I thought so 🤗
This is how I would love to have togetherness.
Bread and romance, who knew – kiss points – a tender love poem.
I might have left a comment to someone else’s comment. I’m not sure.
