Life Goes On

Heather Cox Richardson sours
my morning with further news
of the outrageous disregard
for law which is building a
classic dictatorship and
encouraging other wannabe
authoritarians around the world.

I leave to do the weeks shopping
my neighbour, supervised
by his wife, is remodelling
a wooden box into a trug
for an exhibition of snowdrops
to be held in February.
Life goes on…

trump’s influence is to be feared. I cringe [try to hide] with every bit of news I cannot seem to avoid. Yes, terrifying times. On a brighter note I now know what a trug is. A shallow oblong basket made of strips of wood, traditionally used for carrying garden flowers and produce. Wheeeeeee.

Andrew, the felon, fell asleep again, after a diatribe about how virile and able he really is. 😂 It’s so bad with this administration you have to look for humor to stay sane.

I am hopeful that although Trump will “pass” one way or another, and though there are many other actors around him, who have used the cover of the felon, as you put it so well, they have over-reached to such an extent in their glee, (much as the right-wing in Israel have done with a corrupt and compromised Prime Minister in Netanyahu) that all will implode and decency and rule based government will return – meantime, as you say – let us seek the humour while we may…

HCR’s letter this morning might really sour your day. It’s all about the white supremacist national security policy document released in the middle of the night last night (Friday).

But a display of snowdrops sounds lovely. Yes, life goes on, and we try to find the beauty.

Yes I read that this morning – interesting that they made the headliner philosophy release so quietly… I think they are over-reaching and it may come crashing down – let’s hope so!

Sigh .. the news is seldom something to look forward to, it mostly comprises of tragic events. To be honest, I just read the headlines.

We need those flowers to remind us that not everything has gone sour.

Yes, indeed. No matter how bad the events that surround us are, we go on living, and living the best we could.

Today I learned what a trug is 👍

I’m happy that Trump is constantly showing his cards – it’s brazen and bold. My fear is that what follows will be more of the same but hidden away again as it was before, and the ‘people’ will be satisfied that it is better than Trump. 🤔

PS – I love the work the two stanzas are doing with balancing the crazy with the mundane. 👏
