Lost – languished
her spin muffled
Ella rediscovered
verve
a wondrous
moment of truth
– released
to watch girls’
light-filled
connection

Over at dVerse Poets Pub, Punam – paeansunplugged in Poetics, urges us to celebrate reading broadsheet Newspapers by making an erasure or cutout poem …
What a lovely erasure poem, Andrew! You prove newspapers do carry interesting information and do have their uses.
Thank you Punam – I had to get away from the doom and gloom of my last two posts…
I love both the news and the way you erased it down without loosing any meaning.
Thanks Björn – I think it both kept the original gist of the article but read separately it has a standalone meaning which is a little different…
That was such a great erasure poem, Andrew! I really enjoyed it.

Thanks Yvette – erasure is always a bit of an adventure…
I love your leap into erasure poetry, Andrew, on these newly discovered recordings! Ella Fitzgerald is one of my favorite singers, by the way. I recently learned that Marilyn Monroe was responsible for her being allowed to sing in a Whites-only nightclub in Beverly Hills (or L.A.) and breaking down that barrier to her stardom.
Thanks Dora – I heard that story about Marilyn too – there was so much more depth to her than the media and studios allowed – so tragic…
